Jamestown is developing design guidelines and a form-based zoning
code to ensure that the future of development of the Island remains
aligned with its character. In this way, the Island will evolve and protect its
character at the same time.
The design guidelines will provide guidance on the aesthetics of
buildings like building materials and window types. The form-based
code is ordinance (town law) that defines the form of future development,
such as how buildings relate to the street.
Later this summer, and in the early fall, a series of community meetings
and workshops will be held to help the consulting team craft the design
guidelines and the new form-based code.
We want the community meeting workshops to address the issues and
concerns that matter the most to the people of Jamestown. To help the
consulting team prepare, residents of Jamestown are invited to
participate in this online survey.
The survey had two scales of focus:
- overall Jamestown
- specific study area: the village, the residential areas immediately
adjacent to Narragansett Avenue, Four Corners area, and East Ferry.
We thank the 223 residents for taking the time to complete the survey.
Thank you!!
